The Promise Program is a free college tuition program open to all graduating high school seniors. You only need to submit a FAFSA form and apply to the program. Promise Program students need to fulfill requirements each year in order to remain in the program and get the free tuition each year (for 2 years). You must be enrolled in 12 units each semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
Cal Grant Tuition Aid
The Cal Grant is money for college you don't have to pay back. You only need to complete the FAFSA and meet the eligibility requirements to earn the grant. You will be notified when you qualify. Cal Grants can be used to pay for community college, Cal State, UC, or qualifying independent schools. Visit the Cal Grant website for more info.
FAFSA Frequently Asked Questions
The FAFSA form becomes available on October 1st of each year. Financial aid is a first come, first serve basis - so the earlier you complete the more financial aid you may receive. Students should always complete the FAFSA form each year, even if they don't expect to receive state or federal aid. Most scholarships at colleges require a FAFSA form to access the funding.
